Preliminary wash I covered the surface with a wash of varying warm and cool tones.	Sketch I sketched the image in using a brush.	Lay in This is the initial lay in of color. A lot of this will be covered in the final stage but I also let a lot of the initial color show through. At this stage I will also concentrate on the mass value of the large shapes.
Final Painting The finishing stage allows me to create an interesting painting surface. It is essential that you maintain your big shapes and mass values.
